The blackthorn hedge forms a gate around a beaten path. The inside has grown into trees and turned black, whereas young green offshoots renew the hedge on the outside. With the years a dense thicket is formed, where birds and other animals find a home.
I’ve been working with the blackthorn for over a decade; since three years I am returning annually to gather branches for making thorn-crowns and other ritual tools. For 2016 I am already sold out of thorn crowns. Please e-mail me if you wish to have an individual crown of thorns made from blackthorn or other thorny shrubs.
